This item is the ACE Academy 2012 wall calendar with photos of the ACE Academy Camp from this past summer as well as previous summer camps. The calendar contains over 60 color photos showing the many events over the week long aviation camp for teens.
ACE Academy Camp (Aviation Career Education)
ACE Academy Camp is a program co-sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and provides opportunities for students to explore the wide variety of aviation careers available in the military and civilian sector. Many campers go on to become accomplished pilots getting their first real taste of the world of aviation through their summer ACE Academy experience.
This past summer was the 15th year for the ACE Academy Camp and it was the first summer camp that devoted a full day with a focus on float flying. Each student camper got to experience flying in the “right seat”, taking off, landing, taxing, docking and maintenance of one of 6 different seaplanes that showed up for the day, each pilot volunteering their time, gas, aircraft and expertise. Other events of the week included visits to local aviation companies, airports, grass strips, seaplane bases and maintenance and repair facilities. The Maine Air and Army National Guard hosted the students and showed them the HU60 Blackhawk helicopter, the KC135 Refueling Tanker including pre-flight training and planning as well as in-flight observation and guidance in the Refueling Boom Guidance and Control Bay. Students visited the Flight Control Tower at Bangor International Airport as well as the Radar Room, the Challenger Learning Center learning rocket flight and visited the Maine Aviation Historical Museum. It was a fun filled and action packed week for everyone and was captured in photos for this calendar.

With this calendar, we hope to also provide a comprehensive listing of aviation events in an easy to read calendar form. Because we are able to print the calendar as needed we will be updating event information as it comes in. Please help us by spreading the word and by sending us information about your favorite aviation event and we will list it in the next day’s edition of this calendar. enthusiasm for these special machines. John grew up around seaplanes, as his dad owned a Seaplane
Base & Seaplane Service. He has been flying seaplanes since he was 15 years old. He is past Northeast Field
Director for the Seaplane Pilot's Association, and edits the Seaplane Float Directory for the SPA Water Flying
Magazine. Bob has been photographing and making videos since his college days. He currently works with the
Fly In Committee for the Annual Seaplane Fly In Greenville, Maine putting together the Annual Guide and has
been photographing and videoing the Fly In for years. Many of the Fly In photos and videos are available on this

Floatplane, Flyingboat photos, videos, calendars and posters of fly in and car meets throughout New England and
New York. We encourage seaplane pilots or British sports car drivers to send us photos of there plane or auto for
